KAUNA 0.08 update - Summer Sauna


Hello!


I have been able to put more time into development of KAUNA this month so the update now is one of the biggest yet. It improves the look and feel of the game in many ways.  I hope you like the update and feedback is appreciated as always.  Here is some brief summary of updates below.

Weapon wheel:

Player can now use 'Weapon wheel'  by pressing Q or right shoulder button RB with controller.


Movement change:

Player now retains some velocity and does not stop right away after input has ended. This also makes side-jumps easy to do.

New 3D models:

I have added new models for following:

  • machine gun + ammo
  • rifle ammo
  • rocket launcher 
  • ranged robo enemy
  • sauna props
  • gibs for enemies
  • launcher
Monster updates:
  • Monsters have seen quite many updates. Gibs were updated and are not just cubes anymore. Basic enemies should now blow up (gib) after direct hit from rocket or grenade.
  • Robo enemies disappearing effect was removed. The body stays in game world.
  • AI improvement should prevent enemies to get stuck and melee enemies are moving more when they see player.
  • There is new 3D model for ranged Robo enemy. It can be now more easily seen from distance by having orange eye and different profile than melee version.
  • Robo enemies have now new sound effect when they die

Other notable  updates:

Options menu can be now accessed from the pause menu and no need to go back to main menu anymore.

E1M2 development has progressed and level is more complete now (but still not finished )

You can also go to sauna in E0M1 (press E near the bucket). just don't throw too much water to stones :)

  • Options can be now changed from the pause menu
  • new textures
  • next level name in level completion screen
  • map updates:
    • E0M1 improved sauna. Take a pause and relax in sauna! :)
    • E1M1 breakable boulder added
    • E1M2 new courtyard + sewer area
    • E1M2 shotgun pickup area
  • bug fixes:
    • pause menu can be closed with ESC
    • rocket and sword does not hurt player anymore if player moves fast to same direction
    • launcher now works even if player is jumping
    • fixed: sword was only able to hit one object at the time
    • E1M5 secret area fixes
    • removed old ladder collider in E1M1
    • bullet holes now attach properly to moving objects
  • under the hood improvements
